Home PageTable of Contents ↑

By default the theme will display the menu on the home page. If you want to use one of the pages you created, navigate to the "reading settings" page and select the page in the "front page" drop down menu.

The menu appears by default on the built-in home page. If want to show the menu on a different page, you can do so by creating a page and selecting "menu" in the templates drop down on the right-hand side of the page edit screen (see screenshot below).

To control the price for a menu item, simply enter a number in the "Custom Post Options" field below the post edit box (see screenshot below). You can enter anything you want here (including HTML and the $ symbol).

Menu Category OrderTable of Contents ↑

The menu category order is alphabetically ordered via the slug name of the category. To change the order, simply add a number to the beginning of the slug to indicate the position you want the menu item to appear.

Featured Post ImagesTable of Contents ↑

To feature images in the menu or in the blog listing, use the “Featured Image” section on the lower right side of the post edit page (see screenshot below). After uploading the image, select "Use as featured image". When uploading an image, it automatically creates all the different sizes for you. For details, please review this walk-through video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ug2RFRh3E8U

To create an image gallery, simply upload images to a page/post and order them accordingly on the "gallery" tab in the pop-up window (see screenshot below, available after you upload images). For menu items, a link to the gallery appears once you have a featured image selected for the post. To display the gallery in the post/page content, click the "insert into post" button on the "gallery" tab of the pop-up window (do not do this for items that appear in the menu).

To create a menu, navigate to “Appearance” > “Menus” and create a new menu named “Main”. Assign this menu to the “Main Navigation Menu” in the drop down (see image below). For more information and instruction, watch the “Using WordPress 3.0 Menu System” video here: http://tinyurl.com/48dozan

WidgetsTable of Contents ↑

The widgets section or "Info Panel" is controlled from the "widgets" page (under "appearance").

CommentsTable of Contents ↑

This theme uses PrettyPhoto as a lightbox system for images. You can make images show up with the light box by adding rel=”prettyPhoto” to the links. For more info, check out the PrettyPhoto website: http://www.no-margin-for-errors.com/projects/prettyphoto-jquery-lightbox-clone/

Embedding YouTube VideosTable of Contents ↑

You can embed YouTube videos by pasting the embed code provided by YouTube (see screenshot) into the post content box. When you're dealing with raw code, make sure you're using the "HTML" tab (not the "visual" tab) on the WordPress page/post edit screen.

JavaScriptTable of Contents ↑

This theme imports the following JavaScript files:

  1. jQuery: jQuery is a JavaScript library that greatly reduces the amount of code that you must write.
  2. Custom Scripts: The custom.js file provides some custom scripts for jQuery.
  3. Google Custom Font APIs: This script allows the theme to utilize Google’s custom font directory provided by google.com/webfonts
  4. PrettyPhoto: PrettyPhoto is a lightbox system for images. You can make images show up with the light box by adding rel=”prettyPhoto” to the links. For more info, check out the PrettyPhoto website: http://www.no-margin-for-errors.com/projects/prettyphoto-jquery-lightbox-clone/
  5. Sticky: Creates the stick effect for the last widgets in the sidebar and the breadcrumbs when scrolling.
  6. Masonry: Controls the footer widgets so they display in a proper grid layout and adjust accordingly based on the space available.
  7. Backstretch: Allows the fullscreen image effect to work across all major browsers.

PSD FilesTable of Contents ↑

The main PSD file, “maitred.psd”, utilizes folders for organizing content. If you’re trying to edit a specific section, just locate the proper folder to find the layer.

Please note that the PSD file was used as a starting place for the design of this theme. Some elements in the PSD were not developed and some developed items are not in the PSD. This is normal as part of the design/development process.
